Margaret and Kate were inseparable best friends. Kate narrates their story from the day they met, reflecting on the ups and downs of their friendship over the years. As time passes, they drift apart due to Kate's disappointment in Margaret's involvement with drugs. Complicating matters, Margaret enters a new relationship with Jason, a manipulative and abusive guy, further straining her friendship with Kate. When Kate expresses her concern about Jason, it causes conflict with Margaret's family.
